Throwback Design
Like a time capsule, this galley kitchen held many reminders of decades gone by. While beautiful in its time, this space was due for an update. From the recessed cabinet lighting above the sink, trimmed with a scalloped edge, to the wallpaper border, to the pony wall separating the breakfast nook from the living area, everything about this kitchen screams ’90s.
Rearranging to Revive
The new design called for a complete rearranging of the kitchen. The sink moved to the opposite side which became a countertop, open to the adjacent living space. The fridge moved across the kitchen to work beside the new (and newly located) stove. All of these relocations were designed with function in mind. Entertaining will now be much more fun, with the kitchen opened up to the livingroom.
Using floating shelves on the wall next to the sink adds storage without the bulk of extra cabinetry. This keeps the entire room feeling open and the beautiful wood shelves tie into the wood accent of the vent hood above the new stove.

Laundry Room Update
The original laundry room was cluttered and busy. The open shelves, while providing storage space, made the room feel smaller and overfull. By replacing the old shelves with new cabinetry and purpose-built storage areas, the newly designed laundry room is much more functional and easier to keep organizded.

Bringing this home out of the ’90s has given it a whole new look and feel. Not only will it be much more functional, the space is beautiful and will make hosting friends and family much easier and more fun.
